Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Technical Business Analyst to support a critical project aimed at documenting our entire enterprise technology portfolio. This role is vital for enhancing our understanding of the interconnections between various systems, applications, and data flows within the organization. The ideal candidate will play a key role in improving the clarity and accuracy of our technology documentation, ensuring that stakeholders have a comprehensive view of our business applications and their relationships.

Responsibilities

As a Senior Technical Business Analyst, you will be responsible for the following key tasks and objectives:

  • Assessing and Mapping Technology Portfolio: Conduct thorough assessments of our enterprise technology portfolio, mapping the connections between various systems, applications, and data flows. This will involve creating detailed diagrams that illustrate these relationships.
  • Improving Documentation Clarity: Work to enhance the overall clarity and accuracy of our technology documentation. This includes identifying gaps in existing documentation and proposing solutions to fill those gaps.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Engage with various stakeholders across the organization to gather insights and requirements. This collaboration will be essential for understanding the needs of different departments and ensuring that the documentation meets their expectations.
  • Conducting Inventory Assessments: Perform inventory assessments of business applications to ensure that all relevant systems are documented and understood. This will involve analyzing current usage and identifying any redundancies or inefficiencies.
  • Value Stream Mapping: Utilize value stream mapping techniques to visualize and analyze the flow of information and materials through our technology systems. This will help identify areas for improvement and optimization.
  • Leading Workshops and Meetings: Facilitate workshops and meetings with stakeholders to discuss findings, gather feedback, and drive consensus on documentation standards and practices.
  • Mentoring Junior Analysts: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior business analysts, sharing best practices and fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends and best practices in business analysis and technology documentation, applying this knowledge to continuously improve our processes.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills

  • Technical Writing: Proficiency in technical writing is essential for creating clear and concise documentation that accurately reflects the technology portfolio. The candidate should be able to translate complex technical concepts into easily understandable language for various audiences.
  • Data Analysis: Strong data analysis skills are necessary to assess and interpret data flows between systems. The candidate should be comfortable working with data sets to identify trends, patterns, and areas for improvement.
  • Diagramming: Experience in diagramming tools (such as Visio, Lucidchart, or similar) is crucial for visually representing the connections between systems and applications. The candidate should be able to create diagrams that effectively communicate complex relationships.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: The ability to engage and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization is vital. The candidate should possess strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and facilitate discussions.
  • Value Stream Mapping: Familiarity with value stream mapping techniques is important for visualizing and analyzing the flow of information and materials. The candidate should be able to apply these techniques to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements.
  • Business Analyst Practices: A solid understanding of business analysis practices, methodologies, and tools is required. The candidate should be well-versed in the principles of business analysis and able to apply them effectively in a technology context.

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Familiarity with Salesforce: Experience with Salesforce is a plus, as it is a widely used platform within our organization. Understanding its functionalities and integrations will enhance the candidate's ability to document related systems.
  • Familiarity with ForgeRock: Knowledge of ForgeRock, an identity and access management platform, is beneficial. Familiarity with its capabilities will aid in understanding its role within our technology portfolio.
  • Project Management Methodologies: Familiarity with project management methodologies (such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall) is advantageous. Understanding these methodologies will help the candidate effectively manage project timelines and deliverables.
