Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Semi-Senior Advanced JavaScript Developer to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in maintaining and enhancing our legacy frontend codebases that power our public-facing websites. The ideal candidate will work extensively with plain JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, without reliance on major frontend frameworks, ensuring seamless integration with Umbraco and Contentful CMS platforms. Responsibilities

• Maintain, update, and optimize legacy frontend codebases using plain JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, ensuring high performance and cross-browser compatibility without the use of major frameworks.
• Work extensively with Umbraco and Contentful CMS platforms, including integrations such as Voglio, to manage and update public-facing website content.
• Collaborate closely with marketing and engineering teams to implement content updates, legal changes, and application communications in a timely and accurate manner.
• Utilize Git for version control to manage code changes effectively and Azure DevOps for task management, ensuring smooth project workflows and transparency.
• Troubleshoot and resolve frontend issues proactively, demonstrating strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Support the transition towards automated testing tools in the future, while currently working comfortably without them.
• Ensure that all frontend development aligns with SEO best practices to maximize website visibility and performance.
• Adhere to web accessibility standards to provide an inclusive user experience, contributing to compliance with Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG).
• Manage legacy CSS maintenance to keep stylesheets clean, efficient, and compatible with evolving web standards.
• Handle compliance-related content updates with precision, ensuring all legal and regulatory requirements are met.
• Collaborate effectively within nearshore or compatible time zones, maintaining clear communication and teamwork across departments.
• Participate in code reviews and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the frontend development team.

Requirements

Must-Have Skills

• HTML5: Expert knowledge of HTML5 to structure and present content effectively on the web, ensuring semantic markup and accessibility.
• CSS3: Proficient in CSS3 for styling and layout, including responsive design techniques and legacy CSS maintenance to support older codebases.
• JavaScript: Advanced skills in plain JavaScript for dynamic frontend functionality, DOM manipulation, event handling, and asynchronous programming without reliance on major frameworks.
• Umbraco CMS: Experience working with Umbraco CMS to manage website content, implement updates, and integrate with other systems.
• Contentful CMS: Proficiency in Contentful CMS for content management and integration, including working with APIs and third-party tools like Voglio.
