Summary
As a Sr. Full Stack Engineer you will own significant areas of the stack, build features that directly impact underwriters and internal customers, and help shape the engineering direction of a growing team. The role emphasizes full stack development across frontend and backend components, API design, automated testing, CI/CD, and exploration of LLMs to improve underwriting workflows.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to define and deliver new features and enhancements.
- Design and implement frontend and backend components using JavaScript (Node.js) and Python.
- Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and integrate with third-party services as required.
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following best practices and coding standards.
- Implement automated tests and participate in code reviews to ensure high code quality.
- Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and development tooling to support reliable delivery.
- Optimize application performance and scalability to meet growing user needs.
- Investigate and debug production issues using modern tooling and observability practices.
- Explore and build LLM-driven features to enhance underwriter productivity.
- Contribute to technical direction and mentor less experienced engineers on the team.
Requirements
- Senior-level full stack ownership: 5+ years of experience with the full stack development, able to own services end-to-end and support less experienced engineers.
- Experience backend components using JavaScript (Node.js) and Python.
- Experience building frontend comwith web technologies and frameworks such as JS/TS, HTML, CSS/SCSS, Angular, React, Bootstrap.
- Proven ability to design data models based on business-domain use cases.
- Proven ability to write maintainable, testable code and follow coding standards.
- Experience developing RESTful APIs and integrating third-party services.
- Familiarity with CI/CD tools and pipelines (for example GitHub Actions, AWS Code Pipelines, or Jenkins).
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, organization, and time management.
- Ability to gather business requirements and translate them into scalable engineering solutions.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/projects and deliver to objectives.
- Experience building or experimenting with LLM-powered applications.
Nice to Have
- Prior startup experience.
- Experience solving insurance industry or domain-related challenges.
- Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies like Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Google Cloud Platform, or Microsoft Azure.
